the film that i have chosen to do my case study on is called Avatar. the reason why i have chose this particular film is because the genre of the film relates to the other films i'm looking at.

Sherlock Holmes Analysis
The trailer for sherlock holmes is a fast trailer which suggests its action packed and the background music is exciting which also suggests its an action packed film. but when i watched the film it was quiet different. the background music in the film was slow and it wasn't as action packed as the trailer is trying to show. the three main characters are introduced in the trailer. these characters or stars are named: Robert DowneyJR, Jude Law and Rachel McAdamssherlock also known as Robert Downey JR, is shown more than the other three. this could be because he has star power and is the main character in the film, its like the film revolves around him. the colours in the trailer that are used is mostly browns,. blacks and creams. these are very neutral coloures and make the atmosphere of the film very chilled.

Loreal have used beyonce, a well known celebrity, to promote their cosmetics because she's aspirational. the value of this brand is that they're beauty aspirational. the target audience for this brand are young women. this is because they have used beyonce to advertise their beauty cosmetics and she is in that age range.
in the loreal advert, beyonce is seen wearing a black dress. the black dress has both a positive and a negative veiw. the positive veiws are that it looks, classical, formal and sexy. the negative veiws are that it could look unimaginative and mourneful.

The intended effect of your semiotics features.
As having the role as a costume desighner i have deiced that the 'gang members' in the group will be wearing hoodies. I have chosen this type of clothing because stereotypically this is how gang members are dressed. when people see a gang of people wearing hoodies they usually feel scared. This is the kind of image i am trying to create.
